Euro Cylinders can be fitted with up to six pins with both internal and external doors usually having different levels of security.

The selection of a cylinder is crucial. It depends on the use that your doors and handles receive. For instance, exterior doors require an extra secure cylinder, while internal doors can be secured with the standard cylinder. Certain cylinders are equipped with additional features that can improve security, like anti drill or anti bump properties.

A euro cylinder should be properly measured to ensure it's the right size for your door. The cylinder should be measured from the hole in the center of the fixing screw to the other end of the cylinder, including the thumb turn if you have one. It is best to do this with the lock in place however, if this is not possible, you may remove it to take measurements. It is essential to not have a cylinder that extends beyond the handle or escutcheon. This can make it vulnerable to snapping lock attacks.

The design of many modern cylinders comes with anti-drilling as well as bump resistance features. They are designed to decrease the chance of attack by forcing cylinders to turn in a different direction. This can help prevent attacks and protect your doors.

Certain cylinders are made to resist snapping. This is a more frequent kind of attack on cylinders where the break line in the lock is targeted using a special tool to break the front of the cylinder and allow the door to be opened. These cassettes are a replacement to broken or missing cassettes on the backplate of uPVC door handles. They are supplied in one unit. They have a square-cut out that accommodates an 8mm shaft.
