1. iRobot s8

This smart robot vacuum and mop combo is a fantastic option for a wide range of homes. It has a great navigation system with GPS and laser sensors. It also has a lot of features and control options that can be accessed through the app. It also has a handy feature that allows you to add Cleaning zones for certain areas that need extra attention, as well as Keep Out zones where you do not want it to be. As with all Roomba devices, it is updated with new software updates that make it better over time.

It's expensive however, it's also among the most advanced robot vacuums that ZDNet has tested. It has a high-powered battery that can clean an entire home in less than two hours. While Anker-owned Eufy has made a name for itself in budget robot vacuums, it's never offered an all-in-one model that could also mop. The X8 Hybrid is a new model that comes with a variety of advanced features, and can compete with much more expensive models.

Laser navigation is the main selling point of this machine. The previous Eufy devices have created an approximate map of your home utilizing infrared sensors and bumping into objects however the X8's laser mapping technology is much more accurate. It also takes a lot less time to build up an accurate picture of your home and can store multiple maps, which is ideal for homes with multiple floors.

The X8 is a good vacuum cleaner for floors that are clean. It is able to easily throw debris through the side brushes and into its 400ml dust bin. Miele's RX2 robotic vacuum is renowned for its quiet, powerful appliances. It is a stunning design, a great navigation system and an impressive cleaning power. It has some oddities in its operation that keep it from being named the best smart robot vacuum.

The RX2 is equipped with a dual-sensor mapping technology which uses LIDAR to map an area as well as a pair of 3D scanning cameras for detecting and avoiding obstacles (such as furniture legs or pet waste). The controls are less basic than the competitors. There's a clean button on the top and you can either start it by using the app or voice commands using Alexa or Google Assistant. You can also set up a schedule for your daily or weekly cleaning, set areas that are not allowed to be cleaned, and check its history of cleaning. Ion is covered in a smart dark gray plastic that looks and feels appealing in your home. The dust bin on the rear is easy to empty and removing the filter is equally easy.

5. Eufy 11S

If you're looking for a basic low-cost robot vacuum at a reasonable cost, the Eufy11S is a great option. It lacks some of the smart features, like digital mapping and Alexa integration, found in higher-end models but if you're not looking for these functions, you can save some money with this model.

The robot is easy to install and use. It doesn't require smartphone application or Wi-Fi pairing. However it does come with the remote control that lets you choose between different modes and adjust suction levels. It also allows you to manually take the robovac off during scheduled cleaning.

During our tests during our tests, the 11S was very effective at removing pet hair and dirt from hard floors and in low-pile carpets. Its slim profile allowed it to get under furniture and other low items that more bulkier robots couldn't reach. It was able to pass easily over thresholds of doorways and switch from one type of floor to another.

Like other robots, the 11S will suck up some objects like cords, hoodie drawstrings, and cat toys. The manufacturer suggests that you can stop this by keeping these objects off the floor and by using a cord organizer if possible. Its self-navigation feature and environmental mapping is something to behold. It has more advanced automation than most of its competitors, including the capability to set up virtual boundary markers using its mobile application. It's a dependable robot vacuum, even if its application is a bit slow and the 980's wheels spin out when rolling over cables.
